This discussion bridges the gaps between educators at different levels of education to take a hard look at how they are already teaching data and can transform how they teach information.

  • Why: With the societal push to now use AI, as the latest technological tool, the human perspectives on how we decide what data is and the best practices in using it, will help us educate the next generation on efficient, responsible AI use.

Workshop: Building Interdisciplinary Data Exploration for High School Teachers

  • Who: High school teachers

  • What: Builds interdisciplinary problem solvers using foundational data science skills across subjects

  • Why: Develop curriculum enhancements using both digital and non-digital skills to solve more complex interdisciplinary problems bringing data science to more non-traditional subjects like history or art.

Workshop: Building Foundational Data Skills using Data Exploration and Mining Where You Least Expect It

 

  • Who: Elementary school teachers

  • What: Builds foundational data skills non-digitally with hands-on learning through various information sources with thoughtful conversation about categorizing and using data/information for decision making

  • Why: Deliberate teaching of foundational data organization and visualization techniques to better prepare students for more advanced data skills
